What overall effect? Don't know if that's necessary.

Besides that, I think this is good to go.

    issue prior to revisions:

What effect has Fidel Castro had on Cuba?
    Positive effect
    Negative effect
    No effect
No position or position not known.

I like the current wording better, but I would take "no effect" out and put "neither" or "neutral."  I don't think we need "effect" in the answers as well.

    -positive
    -negative
    -neutral

"no effect"  is an unreasonable stand.  no one can argue reasonably that castro did not affect cuba.  i think i'm the one that created that stand so i'm okay with saying that.  anyway - should we say:

How has Fidel Castro impacted Cuba?

Castro has had a positive effect on Cuba.
Castro has had a negative effect on Cuba.

if this one does not float your boat, try:

Has Fidel Castro had a positive or negative influence on Cuban politics?

i'm trying to pin people down on whether they support Castro or not ...
