    Yes, it should the remain the way it was written.
    People shouldn't interpret the Pledge of Allegiance so seriously. They could easily substitute Buddha, Allah, Yaweh, or any divine figure they choose. The linguistic value of "God" is pan-religious.

    The thought that we are not a nation based upon the belief in God is rediculous. Although the original pledge did not include the phrase, our ancestors felt it necessary to add.
