They're somewhat different, I think. The greenhouse gas thing is a specific component of car emissions, but we do regulate them now despite the Bush administration's aversion to regulating CO2. There's more to it.

you're right.  Discardo!

i think our issue on regulating greenhouse gas emissions covers this debate already

I think, "impose stricter" sounds good, as does the general question per Jacki's revisions.

Yeah, I think "strengthen" is framing this issue a bit. I don't think you'll find many politicians announcing, "I support weak standards!"

"Tighten" might be better, or "impose stricter."

I'm not entirely sure what is meant by "strengthen," but if politicians are answering the question, good.

Should the U.S. strengthen emission controls and fuel efficiency in all automobiles?
Yes
No

I like asking "Should the U.S." because this is under "U.S. Domestic Policy."  I definitely agree on the "all vehicles" point.  That's got to change.

Should the U.S. strengthen emission controls and fuel efficiency standards?

-Yes
-No

Yes we should strengthen or no we should not strengthen, we should decrease them, or no we should not strengthen we should keep them the same.  Let it come out in the blogs.

I just think the debate in this day in age is about changing our energy policy.  Should we strengthen standards is the question.  Let people agree or disagree and then explain in the blogs.

I'm sure I can go find Democrats who would say "No" so I don't think it's that framed.

Jacki seems to have a point. Some might argue that standards are too strict already, so the three options make sense.

Why just autos? How about "all vehicles"? (Trucks, airplanes, buses).

Very tough on Republicans aren't you?  There are reasons to support strengthening emissions and there are reasons not to.  I'm sure this isn't completely one sided.

framed.  think about how a republican would answer this question - he wouldn't.

What is your view of fuel efficiency standards?

They should be increased
They should be decreased
They should remain the same
