Okay, maybe change gay to same-sex, and rights is better than arrangements. I objected to arrangements and accomodations because it made them sound like exceptions, and the best laws have no exceptions, are all-inclusive. I suggest same-sex because even under a same-sex civil union or marriage law, straight, bi, and trans- people could still get married. Marriage would be same-sex regardless of actual sexual orientation.

Andy, I understand your dislike of "legal arrangements"... and accomodations is worse because of the ambiguity...sounds like we're opening up love shacks. While #219##laws should apply to everyone#, they aren't written for everyone. But even that isn't the issue, I think. This question is not about whether there should be laws or not... it's about what type of rights, options, measures, provisions, structures, or whatever word sounds best... are available under the law.
No, I still think the question should be about how marriage or civil unions in general of which marriage is one should be defined in law, if at all. accomodations sounds worse than arrangements.

This question seems fine. Either that or "Should there be legal accomidations avalible for gay couples?"
"legal arangements" sounds like some sort of exception that would be made for same-sex couples. Laws should apply to everyone.
Rights afforded couples should be afforded to individuals.
