Sen. Jay Rockefeller, tells NBC News that while the senator has tremendous respect for Leon Panetta, the aide said he believes the CIA director should go to someone who has significant intelligence experience and someone from outside the political world of Washington D.C.

This smells a bit of desperation. Leon Panetta is a terrific guy, a fine public servant--one of those people who reek of sanity and good judgment--but he doesn't have much, if any, experience in spook world.

But this appointment and Johnsen's are extremely encouraging for the restoration of Constitutional order after the Bush-Cheney protectorate.

The Ragin' Cajun says:
Well, he's not the president, particularly in areas of foreign policy you can only have one president at the time. And you know, it's the kind of thing if he did publicly respond he would get a lot of flack for publicly responding when there was another president in office. So, you know, it's one of these things where critics and people sit up and have this criticism or that. The truth of the matter is, come January 20, he'll have so much stuff to do in the Middle East, it'll keep him pretty well occupied, I suspect. for some time to come.
Good issue. Going up.
