In general, I view this simply as a re-iteration of "Is capitalism/free trade good?"

Definitions of "good" and "bad" vary so drastically.  For NAFTA, overall GDP and trade levels have increased for Mexico, which is good to some; But so has severe poverty and levels of inequality within the country (which is bad, of course, though to some is a necessary means for long-term development).  Some will focus on the former, others on the latter.

Again, shouldn't this be under US Corporations?

my only problem with this issue is that you can answer - yes, some corps. hurt other nations' economies but some corps. improve nations' economies. can we take out the generalization somehow??

I proposed this one with the following scenario in mind:

A KFC opens in a fairly small Indian city. What will the effect be?

Some would say positive, because it will bring new jobs, create wealth, boost the local economy.

Others would say that because this KFC dumps its waste into a local river from which people get most of their water, it is a detriment.

Pretty much the same idea as the famous wal-mart scenario.

Sorry for picking on KFC. They serve some mighty fine chicken.
