If revised as suggested, I'm cool with this.

Are we better off without political party affiliation?
    Yes
    No

if you want to make a distinction between political parties everywhere and those in the US, then I think it needs to be more explicit.

    Who's "we", Kemosabe?

    6/25/2006 10:33:46 PM

    I put..

"Are political parties necessary for good governance?" under the topic "Politics"

I think we should keep under US Politics...

"Should we have political party affiliations?"

Should we have both, or just keep one or the other to US Politics?

    6/19/2006 11:56:13 PM

I'm down with Esperanto's "Are political parties good for government?"  That could actually go under the Topic "Politics" though and not just "US Politics."

    Which works for everyone?

how about, "are political parties good for government?"

-Should we have political party affiliation?

I love this topic one way or the other...

i tend to agree with brian here.  i think the "better off" language should be revised though.  otherwise, i think it's worth debate.  and, i think it can work with the other issue.  whether the two-party system is working is a separate issue from should we have affiliation at all?

    6/16/2006 3:48:00 PM

I agree with Adam that it's important to keep the issues debate worthy.  But I think this issue is fairly worded and will become increasingly important to debate as more and more voters become tired of the two party system.  As the site grows who knows who might be interested.  Maybe it one day stirs debate...

I think it will become more and more relevant and it's fair, so lets give it a go.

I think it can exist with "Is our two party system working?" as well.

My standard on a lot of these issues is, "Are people going to debate it?" Who here can imagine eagerly posting quite a bit to fight on this issue?

I think this is a different question. It's asking people to respond to a specific idea about how elections should be run. I like it.

    6/15/2006 11:02:20 AM

I think that this would be covered by the other proposed issue "Is our two party system working?"

Hm. I'd suggest "would we be better off..." Otherwise, it's interesting.
